About me

I am Jeroen Coppens, father of two fantastic children, Jona (2017) and Lotte (2019). I am from Belgium (Antwerp), but have been living in Germany since 2011 permanently, near Frankfurt am Main.

I am a professor in the field of theater studies, contemporary theater, dramaturgy and visual culture (you find my professional website here). In my spare time I like to roll up my sleeves as a do-it-yourselfer. For example, in 2017 I built a moon cradle for my son, in addition to some other furniture, and in 2018 a bicycle shed with a folding roof. In 2020 it got more serious, with a play tower for the children and a sauna for my girlfriend and myself. Everything by myself.

On this website I document my construction projects, so that not only the end result remains, but also the process, how it came about.
